Roger Lasher Nortman brings us a commanding collection of concerti featuring a Bassoon piece, Oboe piece, Flute and Clarinet piece, Horn piece, and a Trumpet and Trombone piece. Each piece has a length of being between 12 and 15 minutes. Each is in the minor key, all very dramatic, and all exhibit the virtuosity of each instrument being put in the spotlight. Each of these pieces has their own unique way of conveying similar emotions in very different fashions while using Romantic and Avant-garde elements. All exuberating with cinematic and thematic elements, each concerto leaves a lasting impressing, having penetrated deeper emotions one may not feel in other similar work of music.
