Winter’s Bone at Sundance Film Festival

ACM Records artist Silence Free Style Free with track Blueline Murders

"Winter’s Bone is a rare movie, superbly acted, quiet and genuine.” Katie Hasty (Hitfix.com)

“If I was on the Dramatic Competition jury for Sundance, Winter’s Bone, hands down, would get my vote.” Aaron Peck (Film.com)

“…Winter’s Bone quickly morphs from your typical Sundance character/region study into a cleverly executed, slow-burn rural twist on the urban detective noir, and when viewed as such, one gets the most from the experience of watching this film.” Landon Palmer (Filmschoolrejects.com)

“The spare precision of Debra Granik’s direction is effortlessly profound. Stunningly genuine performances and exquisite visual details capture the textures and rhythms of a world where the mythic and the naturalistic intermingle.” Sundance.bside.com

“Beyond the brilliant acting, Winter’s Bone has a powerful and well told story that keeps the tension up in the movie all throughout, and you are definitely kept on the edge of your seat.” Daemonsmovies.com

“The Sundance premiere of Winter’s Bone was sort of everything good about film festivals in a nutshell.” Filmdrunk.com

Les Paul Passes Away

The World Has Lost a Remarkable Innovator and Musician: Les Paul Passes Away at 94 1915-2009

ACM Records expresses sympathy to Mr. Pauls family, he was an inspiration to all. Where would music, audio recording, guitar playing and Rock n Roll be without Les??

New York, NY…August 13, 2009…Les Paul, acclaimed guitar player, entertainer and inventor, passed away today from complications of severe pneumonia at White Plains Hospital in White Plain, New York, surrounded by family and loved ones. He had been receiving the best available treatment through this final battle and in keeping with his persona, he showed incredible strength, tenacity and courage. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks for the thoughts and prayers from his dear friends and fans. Les Paul was 94. One of the foremost influences on 20th century sound and responsible for the world’s most famous guitar, the Les Paul model, Les Paul’s prestigious career in music and invention spans from the 1930s to the present. Though he’s indisputably one of America’s most popular, influential, and accomplished electric guitarists, Les Paul is best known as an early innovator in the development of the solid body guitar. His groundbreaking design would become the template for Gibson’s best-selling electric, the Les Paul model, introduced in 1952. Today, countless musical legends still consider Paul’s iconic guitar unmatched in sound and prowess. Among Paul’s most enduring contributions are those in the technological realm, including ingenious developments in multi-track recording, guitar effects, and the mechanics of sound in general.

Passing of Beloved Author

As ACM Records ventures into literary publishing with our new division Stories To Tale, the book Christmas in Kangaroo Land is the heartbeat of our operation, one that has recently skipped a beat.

This happy, ingenuitive book has a flavor of comfort, given only by the author, Adla M. Hannon, who mixed her spirit, warmth, and love into every page. Her very sudden passing has shaken ACM Record’s publisher, Eve Adams, and all who knew the song and literary writer. Releasing the work that touched so many people, young and old, is our only condolence. A 90 year old woman, with an interesting past, Adla M. Hannon graced many walks of life with her upbeat nature. She was an army nurse in World War II, and taught nursing assistants up until very recently. She traveled extensively around the country reading her stories to different schools to wide acclaim. We are honored to have known her and saddened by her sudden departure. Her music and stories will live on for generations to come.

Thank you for supporting ACM Records in our new division Stories To Tale and please share in the enchanting story that flowed out of Adla’s soul, melodically soaring through our imaginations.
