5. MUSIC LICENSING

Music licensing is the process wherein the rights to use a song in a production are brought from the copyright owners of that song by the producer. The producer must contact the copyright owners and negotiate a licensing fee for the specific usage of the song. Once they have come to terms, both the producer and copyright owner must execute a formal license.

6. COMPOSITIONS AND MASTER RECORDINGS

In clearing a song for use in your production, you will most likely need to obtain two separate licenses. ACM Records, Inc. will make sure this necessary detail is handled correctly because a recorded song consists of both the composition, the intellectual property containing thelyrics and/or music written by the composer, and the master recording, the actual recording of those lyrics and music performed by the artist. In many cases the owners of these respective copyrights are separate.

7. SYNC LICENSING VS. MASTER USE LICENSE

A "Sync" license or Synchronization license is required whenever a musical composition is used in connection with the specific recording of a particular song is used.

8. MASTER LICENSING

More important than anything in music placement proceedings is obtaining a copyright and master recording license for each song. ACM Records, Inc. is a "ONE STOP SHOP", owning several thousand titles and can execute from our "IN-HOUSE" selection using an easy-to-use format request form, in the most cost-effect way.
